Gilbert Sengwe has set a new benchmark by becoming a licensed football agent recognised by the English Football Association (FA). This prestigious certification enables him to operate within the English football landscape, a significant milestone that not only elevates his career but also opens new doors for Zimbabwean talent.
Sengwe, already a registered FIFA intermediary, underwent a rigorous 45-day process where the English FA meticulously reviewed his documentation before granting the license. This accomplishment places Sengwe among a select group of agents authorised to conduct football agent services in England, a country renowned for its rich football heritage.
Elated by the opportunity, Sengwe expressed his enthusiasm for what this means for Zimbabwean football. “It’s part of the growth process. For me, it’s an opportunity for Zimbabwean football to grow. If you have an opportunity with clubs in Europe, it will be an advantage for the country,” he stated. Sengwe’s vision is clear: to facilitate access for local players to international trials, particularly in Europe, thereby broadening their horizons and prospects.
This new chapter in Sengwe’s career aims to create significant opportunities for Zimbabwean players. By establishing connections within European football, Sengwe is hoping to pave the way for local talent to gain exposure and experience on some of the world’s biggest stages.
Sengwe’s journey as a football intermediary has been marked by dedication and success. He has previously brought talents such as Christian Epoupa and Albert Eonde from Cameroon to Zimbabwe, showcasing his ability to identify talent. His client list currently includes notable players like Raphael Pitisi, Archford Faira, Mason and McKinnon Mushore, Leeroy Mavhunga, Tendai Magwaza, and Stanley Ngala. Recently, Sengwe orchestrated Wisdom Mutasa’s move to Orapa United in Botswana, further solidifying his reputation as a top agent in the region.
Sengwe also masterminded Baltemar Brito’s move to Highlanders before the Portuguese coach became the Warriors gaffer on an interim basis.
Joining Ellen Chiwenga as a Zimbabwean agent registered with the English FA, Sengwe is looking to make a significant impact as an intermediary.
