Few stories have been as dramatic as Triangle United’s challenging return to the Premier Soccer League (PSL) in 2025. The club, which had been eagerly anticipated to make a mark among the elite, has instead found itself mired in a nightmare start to the season. With four consecutive losses, Triangle United is at the bottom of the log standings, and the pressure is mounting on head coach Luke Masomere to deliver results.

The season began with a glimmer of hope. On matchday one, Triangle United appeared to be headed for a respectable draw against Scottland FC, only to suffer a late heartbreak as they conceded a goal in the dying moments. This setback was followed by a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Caps United, and a heavy 4-1 loss to Telone that set alarm bells ringing within the club. The situation worsened with a narrow 1-0 defeat to Ngezi Platinum at the Baobab Stadium on Saturday, leaving the team without a single point on the board.

Luke Masomere, a seasoned coach affectionately known as “Vahombe,” is now facing the heat. Reports suggest that he has been given an ultimatum by the club’s leadership to start winning or risk losing his job. This pressure is undoubtedly immense, as Triangle’s board and supporters are desperate for a turnaround. Having recently rejoined the PSL, the club’s ambitions are high, and their current predicament is far from the envisioned success.

Despite the bleak start, it would be premature to dismiss Masomere’s capabilities. Known for his tactical acumen and motivational skills, he has previously demonstrated an ability to inspire teams and orchestrate comebacks. However, the urgency of the situation cannot be overstated. Triangle United’s fans are eager to see their team not only survive but thrive in the top flight of Zimbabwean football.

The coming weeks are crucial for Masomere and his squad. The task ahead is formidable, but not insurmountable. With strategic adjustments, renewed focus, and perhaps a bit of luck, Triangle United could yet find their footing and climb out of the relegation zone. As the football community watches with bated breath, one question remains: Can Luke Masomere steer Triangle United away from the precipice and back onto the path of success?
